On Tap. Michigan Brews. Michigan Art.” returned to the Museum of Art in Muskegon for a 2nd year bringing local breweries, restaurants, and new works from Michigan artists all under one roof for an evening of food, beer, and fun. Artwork featured for the event included hundreds of submissions for the MMA’s 87th Regional Exhibition and restaurants and breweries included the best of Muskegon and surrounding areas such as Spring Lake, Holland, and Grand Rapids. Attendees received a scorecard along with tasting tickets to track their experience and note their favorite food and beverage pairings.
Food vendors returning for the event’s 2nd year included Henessy’s and The Lake House with small plates and appetizers. The Cheese Lady was also back with cheese and cracker pairings to complement the many beer options. Spring Lake’s The Village Baker offered up Soft Pretzel bites with mustard and Applebee’s brought boneless wings with Honey BBQ and Buffalo sauces. Hank’s Tavern again brought the meatballs. New this year was Rebel Pies which opened late last year offering specialty pizzas in downtown Muskegon’s Russell Block Building, also home to Unruly Brewing Co. A variety of their pizzas were available for the event, including their popular Polynesian Farmer with goat cheese, pineapple, bacon and Sriracha aioli and the vegan Farmer’s Daughter with rockin’ red sauce, daiya cheese, pineapple, jalapeno, and shredded spinach.

Many breweries also returned for this year’s event including Unruly Brewing Co. and Pigeon Hill Brewing from downtown Muskegon. New this year was Whitehall’s Fetch Brewing with their Distracted Dank Pale Ale, and their Passion Pit Apricot Wheat. Holland breweries were well represented with both Big Lake and Our Brewing Company on hand. Our Brewing’s Study Buddy Coffee Cream Stout was a popular choice among this year’s attendees. Other breweries included Short’s, Saugatuck Brewing, Right Brain, and Founders and also Vander Mill was on hand with their hard cider. Commemorative glassware, t-shirts, and other merchandise was available for purchase. “On Tap” proved to be another great event this year in downtown Muskegon!
