SOWco De Mayo is a brand new event this Spring at Vander Mill Cidery in Spring Lake. The outdoor patio is open, and what better way to celebrate than having a whole pig burial roasting right outside the mill? With tickets only $10 in advance (or $15 at the door,) attendees were able to enjoy live music, and a variety of food along with Vander Mill’s signature hard ciders, beer, and wine and even a few specialties.
The fresh roasted pork was served buffet-style with a taco and sandwich bar including all of the fixings such as guacamole, house-made sour cream, sauces, and even cinnamon donuts for an added treat. 3 speciality ciders were also available especially on tap for the event including a new Ancho Chili cider as well as the “Vanjito” cider featuring lime juice and mint. Needless to say no one went hungry (or thirsty) for this year’s event!

Two bands were also featured on Vander Mill’s new stage throughout the afternoon and evening. The Sanger Brothers Band from Holland was first up with Americana roots music incorporating a variety of styles including jazz, country, and blues. Also from Holland and closing out the evening was the rock trio JJ Curtis featuring a diverse set with some unique cover versions.

For those who did not get enough to eat at SOWco De Mayo, Vander Mill is also hosting their Spring Cider Dinner on Thursday, May 15 featuring a 6-course meal of various food and cider pairings.
