Michigan Beer & Brats Tradition Continues At Crystal Mountain

One of northern Michigan’s favorite Memorial Day Weekend traditions enters its second decade on Saturday, May 28 as brewers and craft beer lovers once again gather slopeside at Crystal Mountain for the 11th Annual Michigan Beer & Brat Festival from 4 - ­8pm (VIP event beginning 3pm).
The celebration attracts dozens of breweries from across the state and thousands of craft beer aficionados to the base of Crystal Mountain’s slopes. More than two dozen brats from local markets will be available as will more than 75 of Michigan’s finest craft beers. Select breweries will also participate in a Brewer’s Special Reserve Trail in which a featured beer is released in limited quantity every 30 minutes ­ including two during the VIP hour (3­4pm). Scarkasm (3­5pm ­ Modern Rock) will open for The Vintage (Classic Rock/R&B) who takes the stage at the Clipper Chairlift from 5:30 - ­8pm.

Tickets are available online including a limited quantity of 300 that allow access to a special VIP hour from 3­4pm. Cost is $50 (advanced online registration required) to enter an hour before the general public and includes 10 tokens and a commemorative glass. General admission is $25 ($30 day of the event) and includes five tokens and a commemorative glass. Additional tokens will be available during the event for $2 each ­ good toward a beer or brat. Memorial Day Weekend is the unofficial start to summer which means it’s opening weekend for Crystal’s most popular attractions. The Park at Water’s Edge, adventure course, climbing wall and Crystal Coaster Alpine Slide will be open. The North Mitten Half­ Marathon & 10K begins at 8am on Sunday, May 29. Also, on Sunday (5 - ­9pm) the Park at Water’s Edge hosts a pool party with a DJ, games and other family fun activities. Those who like to mix a few birdies in with their beers and brats can take part in The Crystal Cup, May 27­ - 29. Participants in the is Ryder Cup­style format play four­ball matches on Saturday and singles matches on Sunday. Each receives a team shirt and hat as well as receptions on Friday night and Sunday (following the final round) plus admission to the Michigan Beer & Brat Festival.
