On tap every May is a fantastic beer sampling event that takes place in Frankenmuth, MI. Over 60 breweries, cider makers, meaderies and beer vendors (distributors) were represented at the
World Expo of Beer offering over 300 options, including many of our favorite Michigan beverages. The Mitten state’s beer was in attendance, and beers from all around the world are represented.
World Expo of Beer is a Friday evening (5pm-10pm) and Saturday event (3pm-10pm). Over those two days, thousands attend – last estimate was 14,000 people. The attendees range from the knowledgeable craft beer aficionado to the ‘new to craft beer’ novice. This event has enough variety for everyone. The $10 admission fee includes a sampling 5 ounce plastic mug.
The event included a Beer Judge Competition Program (BJCP), in multiple categories. Winners typically display their Gold-Silver-Bronze awards proudly in their establishments.
Two sold out events were available, with additional registration fees, at World Expo of Beer. On Friday, the event offered a Fine Food and Craft Brew Pairing event. Saturday was a beer cocktails and mixology event.
This year’s event included a karaoke stage, which was a huge hit. There was also a photo booth and souvenir booth, in addition to other beer related vendors. The beer mug holding contest adds to the fun.
The
Frankenmuth Jaycees host this event, which raises money for the community. In fact, the pavilion that houses half the event was built with funds from past events. Hundreds of volunteers support the event by working the numerous booths, admissions and the souvenir area. And a team of Frankenmuth Jaycees spend a year planning this event.
Enjoying a great Michigan craft beer while supporting a local community makes for a great weekend!
