As summer heats up, there’s nothing better than a cold beer and a warm patio. Lucky for us Detroiters, Jolly Pumpkin Pizzeria and Brewery is prepared to fulfill those needs with its comfortable outdoor patio, perfect for people-watching and soaking up the sun while sampling from their exquisite selection of summer sour ales.
Brewed with a variety of fruits, like cherry and lemon, there’s something for everyone including wheat, sour and hoppy styles:

Jolly Pumpkin Artisan Ales:

  • Weizen Bam (4.5% ABV) – A light lemony sour, this beer is crisp, refreshing and great for hot weather. The lemon sour hits first and sticks long enough to last through the finish. The wheat kicks in near the end with a banana, clove and bready aftertaste, reminiscent of Grandma’s fresh baked banana bread.
  • Oro De Calabaza (8% ABV) – An easy-to-drink, summer beer, this beer has a spicy and peppery taste at first, and balances out with fresh citrus notes and a gentle linger of hops. Its tart finish makes it perfect for outdoor sipping.

North Peak Brewery:

  • Archangel (5% ABV) – Cherry season is basically a holiday in Michigan and Archangel celebrates our state’s favorite fruit! A light, summer wheat beer, drinkers will first taste wheat, clove and banana flavors, followed by a slight tart cherry flavor.
  • Majestic (5.5% ABV) – A strong wheat ale with a light lemon zest on first taste, this brew is refreshing on a summer day with a spicy and floral hops finish.

Jolly Pumpkin is located at 441 W. Canfield in Detroit near the bustling corner of Canfield and Cass. Stop by for a brew 11:30 a.m. to 11 p.m. Monday through Thursday; 11:30 a.m. to 1 a.m. Friday and Saturday; and 11:30 a.m. to 10 p.m. Sunday.
