Downtown Muskegon has more than just beer to offer; it now has pizza as well. Whistle Punk has made the rounds with a mobile wood fire oven both outside Pigeon Hill Brewing Company and at the downtown Farmer’s Market and has proven successful enough to move into a permanent location next door to the owner’s other successful Third St. restaurant, Mia & Grace. Rebel Pies has also offered up their own unique brand of specialty pizzas featuring quality ingredients to complement Unruly Brewing Company. Top Shelf Pizza is the latest pizza maker to enter the downtown scene, joining the same building as Pigeon Hill and offering classic made-from-scratch style pizzas with traditional ingredients as well as a full bar featuring quality craft beer, wine, & spirits.
While new to the downtown area, Top Shelf has been serving pizzas and craft beer to loyal customers at it’s Apple Avenue location since 1990. The location next to Pigeon HIll will allow Top Shelf to connect to a new audience that already appreciates craft beer with the convenience of pizza to-go or as a stop before, after, or between brewery visits. The menu also features salads, sandwiches, and appetizers with lunch, dinner, and late-night hours to complement the downtown scene and neighboring Pigeon HIll brewery. The full bar includes 12 taps with a focus on craft favorites with local and national brands, including barrel-aged and high gravity beer options.

Top Shelf launched the new location in late December with a Founders Tap Takeover. The 11 taps featured included an impressive lineup with KBS as well as Backstage releases such as Dissenter Imperial Pale Lager and Big Luscious. Also on tap were favorites such as Devil Dancer and Backwoods Bastard while Bolt Cutter was available in bottles. Needless to say, Top Shelf intends to make it’s mark on the downtown Muskegon scene and with a Tap Takeover like this one, it has already left an imprint! Also don’t forget the pizza can be enjoyed just as easily as well next door at Pigeon HIll Brewing Company with their own solid lineup of local-brewed beers.
