Tin Can Bar has pretty simple concept: “Cans are King!” - Don’t expect to find your favorite beer on draft or in bottle here because you won’t find it. All the Tin Can Bar features are cans, and lots of them. The concept has proven successful in Lansing with 3 different locations and now Tin Can has opened a 4th location on Grandville Ave SW in downtown Grand Rapids across from the Intersection concert venue and just down the road from Founders Taproom. I recently paid a visit to see what Tin Can Bar has to offer.
If your favorite brewery offers cans you will most likely find their offerings available at the Tin Can Bar with a selection of over 100 different beers including a large number of Michigan craft beer options. The beer menu is organized by price ranging from just over $2 for cheap domestic beer like PBR to up to $5 for specialty craft cans (including many 16 oz and larger) from the likes of Blackrocks Brewery and Griffin Claw. I found their selection to include seasonal and limited releases like Brewery Vivant’s recent Tart Side of the Moon. Tin Can also offers a variety of mixed drinks and “soda bombs” featuring Michigan-based Faygo products.

Tin Can Bar was featuring a limited food menu for their soft opening when I visited but expect to have their full food menu lineup available soon. The menu includes munchies and appetizers, pizza, nachos and quesadillas, grill cheese sandwiches and chili dogs. Punch cards are available to track and try the various beers available as well as the “Tin Can Shot Tour” for the Faygo Bombs. Tin Can Bar Grand Rapids is open 7 days a week from 3 PM - 2 AM on Monday through Friday, 4 PM - 2 AM on Saturday, and 6PM - 2 AM on Sunday.
