Recap of Founders Balls and Brews Beer Dinner at Hank’s Tavern

Hank’s Tavern recently hosted the Founders “Balls and Brews” beer dinner pairing a premium selection of Founders beers with a specially-designed several course dinner to accompany the brews. Seating was limited to 36 people and the event was well attended. The evening began with a welcome toast featuring Founders All Day IPA with ruby red grapefruit sorbet. Hank’s Cody Christensen was on hand to discuss the menu options and Marguex Bouwkamp from Founders introduced the beers and answered questions. For each course, Hank’s staff made the rounds with pitchers of the appropriate paired beer and made certain that no one left hungry (or thirsty!)
As the courses progressed, so did the strength of the beers, from Founders Pale and on to Double Trouble and Old Curmudgeon. Courses served first included Bar Cheese Balls and a Guacamole Tostada followed by Black n’ Bleu Balls and Jerk Turkey Balls. Hank’s Tavern saved the best (dessert!) for last, with a paring of Peanut Butter Pie Balls featuring roasted almonds atop Oreo cookie crumbs with 5 oz. pours of world famous KBS. Various Founders stickers, etc. were available and prizes given out during the night included Founders caps and T-shirts.

Hank’s new outdoor beer garden is now open and available for party reservations for up to 80 people. Also back by popular demand is the father-son duo Lineage who have made many return visits in recent months. General manager Cody Christensen is also working on a series of beer cocktails which should be debuting soon. The “Balls and Brews” beer dinner is the 2nd occasion for a Founders tap takeover in recent months. Founders was also on hand for Hank’s official grand opening back in March.

Hank’s Tavern also hosted a Blue Point Tap Takeover recently featuring along with mainstays specialties including the Toxic Sludge Black IPA and No Apologies Double IPA, and will soon be featuring future collaborations with New Belgium and Bell's. Also be on the lookout for a special growler promotion at Hank's and other Thrasher locations very soon as they will be among the first restaurants in West Michigan to offer growler fills.
