Hop Cat Detroit Montlhy Article

Live is back at HopCat - Detroit next week with the launch of Tributesville Tuesdays, a special collaboration with some of the Detroit’s best tribute bands in the Huma Room at HopCat – Detroit.
The first Tributesville show June 7 features Detroit’s own Lookin’ Back, Detroit’s best Bob Seger tribute band, faithfully recreating the experience of an intimate show with one of Motor City’s best-loved Rock and Roll Hall of Fame artists.

Tributesville was first conceived in 2011 by Todd Stoney, founder and drummer of Lookin’ Back, which has played for more than 250,000 Bob Seger fans. His goal was to create a union among the Detroit area’s best tribute bands to cross promote shows and improve the live music scene.

Mark Sellers, founder of HopCat, created the Huma Room at HopCat Detroit to be a high-quality, intimate venue to support live music in Detroit. The room features its own bar with a full selection of cocktails along with 30 Michigan-made craft beers on tap.

A free “warm-up” show Monday June 6, features Detroit’s own Slight Return, which has performed with George Clinton and Robin Trower, among others, with special guest comedian Tim Rowlands opening at 7 p.m..

The initial calendar for Tribute shows is:

  • Tuesday, June 7, Lookin’ Back (Bob Seger tribute)
  • Tuesday, June 14, More Alice (Alice Cooper tribute)
  • Tuesday, June 21, The Beat Club (Beatles tribute)
  • Tuesday, July 12, Sins of a Madman (Ozzy tribute)
  • Tuesday, July 19, The Legacy Show (Elvis, Tom Jones & Neil Diamond tribute)

Tickets for all shows are $20 with doors opening at 7:30 to the Huma Room (HopCat – Detroit’s second floor music venue and bar) and shows starting promptly at 8 p.m. (no opening acts).
