Recap of The Oberon Release at Pints & Quarts

Oberon is here! On Monday, March 26th, this popular beer from Kalamazoo's Bells Brewery has been rolled out in style once again followed by a series of release parties virtually everywhere. One of many of these parties was held at Muskegon's Pints & Quarts, coinciding with  the Thursday All Night Happy Hour. A Bell's representative was on hand, distributing stickers, sun-glasses, buttons, etc. as well as raffling off everything from T-shirts to beach towels.
Recap of The Oberon Release at Pints & QuartsTo celebrate, Pints & Quarts has been featuring $2 Oberon drafts all week long taking up a handful of the bar's multiple taps to ensure enough supply to meet demand... and demand has been quite high rivalling some of the famous tap nights often hosted here. Half-off appetizers were enjoyed by myself and many other including the onion rings, boneless wings, and veggie supreme nachos with guacomole.

Recap of The Oberon Release at Pints & QuartsOberon has been a "gateway" beer for many beer enthusiasts both past and present, being one of the first widely available microbrews in Michigan. My first taste was under the name "Solsun," many years ago when available in 24 ounce bottles before being widely available on tap. Although not as unique and original in style as it seemed at the time, I do believe it's success here has lead to the spawning of many imitators and at least in Michigan has been many years ahead of the time and warrants much respect for this reason.

Although not an official release party, Oberon is also the featured tap beer selection at the Watermark 920's "In the Mitten 3," this Friday. "In the Mitten" features Michigan music as well as beers and wines, along with sandwiches provided by the nearby Fatty Lumpkins; a winning combination for sure. Muskegon's Hennessy's has also been featuring $2 pints all week long.
