Dutch Girl Brewery opened this past July in Spring Lake directly across the street from Vander Mill Cidery on M-104 / Cleveland St. near 148th Ave. The Grand Opening featured a day of prize giveaways including Mug Club memberships, T-shirts, glassware, hats, and growlers. Kelly and Luke Finchem are the couple behind Dutch Girl with Kelly’s heritage and love of craft beer being the inspiration for the name. Also on board is head “beer maker” Josh Lentz who has worked previously with Founders, North Peak, and the FIlling Station.
The brewery currently features a 5 BBL system made right here in Michigan from Psycho Brew LLC. Highlights of the current tap lineup include the Just One More Lager and Coastie Kolsch along with the 7 Mile Smile IPA and Trees DIPA. Darker options include a sessionable English style Wood Panel Robust Porter and the Dirty Boots Imperial Milk Stout. Be on the lookout for a barrel aged version of Dirty Boots in the next few months as DGB is currently aging the beer in Corsair Artisan Distillery Ryemageddon Rye Whiskey barrels. Coming this fall, expect Dutch Girl Brewery to debut their own hard cider to add to their lineup as well.

Food options at the brewery currently include smoked whitefish and salmon spreads from the Fish Monger’s Wife in Muskegon, authentic Dutch cheeses from Grassfield Farms in Coopersville, smoked jerky sticks from Top Butcher Shoppe in Spring Lake and “the best soft pretzels ever” from the Village Baker in Spring Lake. Pizza delivery is available from Mama Mia’s with additional food options available across the street at Vander Mill Cidery and Vic’s Restaurant & Lounge. On occasion, Top Butcher Shoppe has also provided pulled pork sandwiches with baked beans and cheesy potatoes for an evening at Dutch Girl Brewery.

Dutch Girl Brewery is currently offering mug club memberships for a $50 annual fee which includes both $1 off pints and $2 off growlers not including speciality beers. Members will also get special invitations to limited release beer events with discounted tickets and 10% off all merchandise. Mug club members were also invited to a special preview of the brewery prior to the Grand Opening. Dutch Girl began featuring live music at the brewery earlier in August with Plain Jane Glory being their first ever live band to perform. Dutch Girl Brewery will be hosting a meetup of the local homebrew club Muskegon Ottawa Brewers (MOB) on Sunday, September 13th. Dutch Girl Brewery is also scheduled to be at Lakeshore Brewfest at Camp Blodgett in West Olive on October 11th.

Dutch Girl Brewery is currently open Tuesday through Thursdays from noon until 10 p.m; Friday and Saturdays from noon until 11 p.m; and Sundays noon until 8 p.m. Expect an announcement soon regarding a Dutch Girl Fest coming this Fall!
