Big Hart Brewing Co. Opens As First Brewery In Oceana County

Big Hart Brewing Co. opened in February of 2016 and is the first brewery to be located in the City of Hart and in Oceana County. The address is 4086 W. Polk Rd. and is easily accessible off from US-31 within a half hour drive both north of Fetch Brewing Co. in Whitehall and south of Jamesport Brewing Co. in Ludington. Big Hart Brewing Co.’s founders are Dave and Leslie Hansen who are also the owners of Hart’s successful Hansen Foods grocery store. Head Brewer Teo Watson-Ahlbrandt has prior experience with Original Gravity, Dark Horse, and Arbor Brewing Co.
Since opening Big Hart Brewing Co. has features a dozen different taps including Fleming’s Field, a unique malt cider featuring local apple juice with a strong malt base. The variety of beer styles offered include: Alphonse Session Pale, Workingman’s Helles Alt, Worth the Drive Belgian Brown, 5 O’Clock Whistle Vienna IPA, and the Great Walker Imperial Stout. Growler fills are available for select brews. Big Hart Brewing Co. also features a locally sourced craft food menu which includes soups, salads, and appetizers such as the Onion & Mushroom Soup made with their own Star Hill Dry Stout. Sandwiches include Dave’s Big Cheese Burger, Lamb Sliders, as well as Hansen’s Brats and featured entrees include a Cider Brined Pork Chop and cast iron seared Kobe Beef.

Big Hart Brewing Co. is currently open Tuesday through Thursday 11:00 a.m until 11:00 p.m., Friday and Saturday 11:00 am until 12:00 p.m., Sundays 11:00 a.m. until 10:00 p.m. and closed on Mondays until Memorial Day, May 30th. If planning on stopping in for food, please note that the kitchen closes an hour before closing each day. The brewery will be hosting “A Day at the Races” on Saturday May 7th with a viewing of the Kentucky Derby as well as their own Brew House Derby races with prizes, food specials, and the tapping of their new Mint Stout.
