The Progress of Falling Down Beer Company in Warren

Dreams are being fulfilled in Warren this month, as the Falling Down Beer Company starts to take shape at Dequindre and 10 Mile. Mark Larson, brewmaster, and George Lang, president, are working on transforming a diner into a top-notch brewery and taproom. Demolition began last week, with lots of dust and flying brick, and this week they turn their attention to plumbing, drywall, bathroom remodels, and building the bar. Volunteers are welcome; contact This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. for information. Payment will be in, what else, beer, and trust me, it’s good stuff. This humble correspondent has had the opportunity to sample several of Mark’s brews in the last few months, and there is a wide variety of styles, all very good. The highlight is the Ninja Chicken IPA, planned to be their flagship beer (just imagine the artwork and marketing possibilities with that one!).
The Down Beer Company As construction continues, the brewhouse tanks will be installed and the menu finalized. They are installing a 10 bbl system, with a 910 gallon/week capacity; plans are to double their capacity in 6 months. A pre-opening event is scheduled for November 17, open to FDBC mug club members only. Currently only founding memberships are available, but $125 gets you a pint glass, a growler, six free growler fills, your name on the brewery walls, discounts, and a lot more.

The projected public opening of Falling Down Beer Company is 12/12/12. Stay tuned for more information and updates as their grand opening approaches.

Jeff Priskorn

Jeff Priskorn is a guy who didn’t even like beer until he was 25, which isn’t all that surprising given that the family fridge was stocked with Goebel and Carling Black Label during his tender years. Now an elderly young man, he can finally say that Bud Light is swill and is a proud proselyte to the microbrew world and a loud (and sometimes annoying) advocate for Michigan-made beer. Jeff’s goal is to visit all 100+ Michigan microbreweries and brewpubs, and he’s at least 60% there. In addition to drinking and writing about beer, Jeff is a software guy, actor, voice artist, and musician. Check him out at JeffPriskorn.com, come see his band Mad Rabbit (Michigan’s Live Jukebox™) at a bar near you, and sample his fledgling beer blog at phruityonbeer.blogspot.com.
