The Mitten Brewing Co. celebrates 1st Anniversary

The Mitten Brewing Co. celebrated it’s 1-Year anniversary with a birthday party featuring balloons, food and drink specials and lots of prize giveaways. Although not necessary to attend the celebration, $15 tickets were available which provided attendees with a commemorative glass with choice of fill and raffle tickets good for winning drinks with the Mitten brewers, a one year mug club membership, as well as additional items.
7 taps were featured including the signature Peanut and Crack Jack Porter, and the “Round TRIPA” (Triple IPA) Anniversary Ale brewed with rice and honey, which I chose to fill my commemorative glass. Additional options included the Mitten Pale, Imperial Rye, Vanilla Milk Stout, and Triple Crown Brown as well as hard cider and house red and white wines. Although not on tap for the anniversary, Mitten Brewing’s amazing Batch 100 Wheatwine was featured recently at Harmony Brewing as their contribution to the Beer City Bourbon Barrel Challenge.

The kitchen put together a special Thanksgiving-themed pizza for the event, “The Gobbler”. Not your normal pizza, this featured a garlic mashed potato spread, with turkey, stuffing, gravy, Gouda, mozzarella, and yes, even cranberry sauce. While my friend and I were tempted to try (even asked if we could order a slice,) we instead opted for “The Heater” pizza to pair with our beers. As the name implies, this pizza includes a good amount of spice from the jalapenos and Everidae sweet habanero sauce from local hot sauce company Scoville Farms. Additional peppers and andouille sausage provides some additional kick. Featured desserts included a pumpkin-stuff pretzel, baked apple crisp, and a slice of cheesecake.

Make sure to keep an eye on The Mitten Brewing Co. as earlier in the year the brewery announced plans to expand utilizing the 2nd floor of the former firehouse building as well as adding on an outdoor deck.
