Muskegon’s Got Beer: Unruly Brewing’s beer worth the wait!

Unruly Brewing Company held their first ever public opening on Wednesday, November 27th, one night prior to Thanksgiving, on the busiest bar night of the year.
Needless to say, demand was high and expectations were delivered on with an incredible opening lineup of some great locally brewed beer. The brewery, a latest edition in the fast developing Russell Block Market, is currently keeping weekend hours and occasional weeknights to give brewmaster Eric Hoffman and assistant Cody Vickers time to keep the beer flowing.

Unruly Brewing is currently offering 8 taps, 2 of which have been dedicated to hard cider from the likes of Vander Mill and Cascade Winery. The remaining 6 taps are dedicated to a revolving lineup of Unruly’s many initial offerings. A true standout of the initial lineup was the Apollo’s Creed, a speciality Imperial Coffee Porter that sold out quickly featuring Cacao Nibs, Vanilla Beans, and espresso coffee from the nearby Drip Drop Drink. Other early favorites include the  1890 Pre-prohibition Cream Ale and my own personal go-to beer, the Revel Rouser IPA. In addition to the beer and cider, 3 wines are available from Cascade Winery.

Unruly Brewing has teamed up with the local Fatty Lumpkins Sandwich Shack to provide food and snacks to brewery patrons. Visitors are also welcome to bring food in from other local vendors, and a pizzeria is planned to be opening soon to share space with the brewery as well. Unruly is also currently offering Mug Club Memberships for $55 a year which includes special events. In fact, the brewery opened a week early for mug club members (and guests) only. Additional benefits include a 20 ounce beer chalice which can be filled at a discounted price. Be sure to stop in soon, current “on deck” brews include the “Ryeot” Pale Ale and a barrel-aged Foundry Slag Stout!
