Pop the top off a cold one Lansing because this fall a historic Lansing brewery will re-open its doors after 100 years to the delight of local craft beer lovers.
The Lansing Brewing Company is a historic brand that is being resurrected and will house the one and only full-production craft brewery with a distillery in the heart of the Stadium District in downtown Lansing, Mich. It will brew and can a selection of their craft beers as well as serve and bottle their locally produced spirits. It will be a full-scale brewery restaurant as well as production facility.

The original Lansing Brewing Company was one of Lansing’s first full-scale production breweries in Lansing and was open from 1898-1914. As a result of a revitalized downtown and the growing demand for craft beer, the timing is perfect to resurrect the historic brand to its former glory.

“Lansing is the heart and soul of Michigan,” said Sam Short, Lansing Brewing Company consultant. “The city is long overdue for its very own brewery … one that embraces its roots while toasting the future.”

The Lansing Brewing Company resides at 518 E. Shiawassee St., just north of Cooley Law School Stadium. The 7,000-square-foot brewery will be housed in a converted automotive warehouse. Renovation costs are estimated at $1.5 million. The Lansing Brewing Company is slated to open in the fall of 2015.

The brewery will create more than 60 jobs and initially offer up to 10 different beers, four locally produced spirits, and two custom-blended wines. The food will consist of classic American comfort food all made from scratch. Within the first year, 20-25 beers will be added to the brew selections.
