 HopCat - Grand Rapids

For the second year in a row, the internationally renowned website RateBeer.com has named HopCat – Grand Rapids the No. 1 brewpub in the United States. The awards, announced this morning, are part of what RateBeer.com calls the largest beer competition in the world.
This year HopCat shared Best Brewpub honors with New Albanian Brewing Company in New Albany, Ind.; Russian River Brewing in Santa Rosa, Calif.; Stone Brewing World Bistro and Gardens in Escondido, Calif; and Wicked Weed Brewing in Asheville, N.C..

HopCat, which celebrated its 6th anniversary on Jan. 25, has topped the charts in multiple beer and brewpub ranking lists since it was founded by Mark Sellers in 2008.

“Earning recognition from a site like RateBeer.com as the best in the nation is a testament to the entire HopCat team’s tireless efforts to serve our customers throughout the year,” Sellers said.

In 2013 HopCat – Grand Rapids welcomed more than 250,000 craft beer enthusiasts, and served up 780 different varieties of craft beer over the course of the year. The repeat honor by Ratebeer.com follows Four Square dubbing HopCat Most Popular Bar in Michigan. Readers of CraftBeer.com named HopCat the No. 2 beer bar in the country in 2013. HopCat has also been on Draft Magazine’s Draft 100 list of best beer bars in the country for five straight years. In July Sellers’ holding company BarFly Ventures opened HopCat East Lansing with a world record-setting 100-tap takeover in collaboration with Short’s Brewing Co.

Siciliano’s Specialty Market in Grand Rapids also repeated as RateBeer’s Top Grocery for beer in the nation.
