Dutch Girl Brewery opened this past summer in Spring Lake and things have been moving full speed ahead with the celebrating of their first ever Dutch Girl Bier Fest on Saturday, October 17th from 4:00 p.m. to 11 p.m. The event featured several speciality tappings including Dutch Girl’s first ever barrel aged release beers as well as food and live music. The food and music and specialty beers were provided in and outdoor tent setup in the parking lot outside the brewery, while the pub inside was also open for those who did not want to miss the U of M vs. MSU game.
Admission into the fest include 4 drink tickets with pints of tier 1 and tier 2 beers both going for 2 tickets each and 10 oz. pours of speciality beers going for 3 tickets each. (Additional tickets could be purchased for $2 each.) 10 beers were on tap inside the pub which included the Stumpkin’d Pumpkin Dunkelweizen and Chester’s Copper Pot Michigan Harvest Ale. The specialties available in the outside tent were the barrel aged versions of the popular Dirty Boots imperial milk stout aged for 3 months in Corsair Artisan Distillery Rymeageddon barrels, the Monastic Front Trippel IPA aged in Corsair Gin barrels, and an Oak Soured Stumpkin’d Pumpkin.

Local bands provided the entertainment for the night with rock from Oregon Dreamchild and a reggae based set from Mystic Dub out of Grand Rapids. Food vendors included Righteous Cuisine offering Pork, Chicken, and smoked mushroom Vegan tacos and BBQ provided by Spring Lake’s own Top Butcher Shoppe. Games were also setup outside and enjoyed by many of the attendees. Following the Bier Fest, several of the speciality brews for the event have been tapped at the brewery and are available while supplies last so be sure to pay a visit soon!
