Pike 51 Brewing Co. recently celebrated their 3-year anniversary along with the 6-year anniversary of the Hudsonville Winery where the brewery makes it’s home. Live music, food, and wine and beer specials took place all day long for the tented event outside the winery. Several speciality beers were tapped for the occasion as well as anniversary bottled beer and wine releases. Pulled pork sandwiches were on the lunch menu for the day, with an all-you-can eat buffet including chicken starting in the afternoon and into the evening.
While the Hudsonville Winery released the special anniversary Eros blueberry and pomegranate wine for the event, Pike 51 offered up 3 limited bottle releases. 144 bomber bottles of the anniversary Bourbon Barrel Aged Heavy Soul were made available which is an imperial milk porter this year aged in Barton 1793 Rye Bourbon casks. Also available for the release were 60 bottles each of Jolly Stave Wild Ale and Satisfied Mind Double IPA. The Jolly Stave is an oak barrel aged sour red ale which Pike 51 fermented using wild yeasts from two of their favorite sour breweries.

Specialty taps available in the outdoor beer tent included the debut of both a new yet to be named “Cherry Sour” (planned for a future bottle release) as well as the Daywalker Honey Wheat Ale with lemon tea and ginger. Other taps included Super Kush, Tea Pants, and a version of the Sabotage Coffee Milk Stout with cocoa nibs and scorched orange peel. Live music started at noon with Hudsonville’s own Kurt Russell Barber and also included performances from Rustbell, Vincent Hayes, ScurvyGrass with Jimmie Stagger closing out the anniversary party with his own set of blues music starting at 7:30 p.m.
