Every spring bicyclists gather at Rockford Brewing Co. and embark on the almost 15 mile group ride to Brewery Vivant, and each fall gather at Brewery Vivant for the approximate one hour return trip. The first go-round has become known as “Fly to the Coq” with each year’s return trip known as “Coq to the Fly”. The breweries have also made a tradition of collaborating on a special beer for each event with a version of the brew tapped before and after the ride at each respective location. For this year’s Coq to the Fly, the collaborative beer was a Dark Ale called “On Your Left” brewed with naked oats and dark malts.
Brewery Vivant started the day at noon with a “power hour” which featured the first tapping of the day of “On Your Left” which include a special firkin release as well as a regular draft release.

1:00 p.m. bikers departed Brewery Vivant arriving at Rockford Brewing Co. around 2:00 p.m. with Rockford Brewing Co.’s weekend long Harvest Beer Tent in progress. Grand Rapids instrumental surf, rock, and blues band The Moonrays performed in the Harvest tent for the afternoon with rock from Muskegon’s Chordis Bell closing out the weekend for the fest. The celebration include $10 plates of BBQ from The Grist Mill and a full lineup of Rockford’s Permaculture series of seasonal harvest beers.

Brewery Vivant will be celebrating their 5-year anniversary Sunday, December 20th. Details are expected to be announced soon as the pub event is currently in planning and will surely be not to be missed. Rockford Brewing Co. will also be celebrating their anniversary in December so stay tuned for more information. Their anniversary has been preceded in past years with a pre-Thanksgiving pub crawl featuring debut beer releases at select locations throughout downtown Rockford.
