Founders sets aside one day a year in April to celebrate their darkest beers. This year’s celebration will be held on Saturday, April 22nd and is an all day event at the pub featuring food, music, and every kind of dark beer imaginable ranging from barrel aged stouts to smoky porters and black IPAs. Past year’s events have included everything from mainstays to exclusive tappings including one-off firkins and nitro beers.
Every year Black Party features a uniquely inspired “black set” from Founders brewmaster Jeremy Kosmicki’s band Oracle. Additional music lined up for this years fest include progressive rock from Virginia’s Night Idea, folk rock from Denver’s Paper Bird and new wave and ska from New York City’s Rude Boy George. The schedule for this year’s music lineup is as follows:
  • Oracle 5-6 p.m.
  • Rude Boy George 6:45 p.m. - 8 p.m.
  • Paper Bird 8:45 p.m. - 10 p.m.
  • Night Idea 10:45 p.m. - 12 a.m.

Black Party begins as soon as the doors open to the taproom at 11 a.m. The taproom will be 21 and over all day for this event. The deli will be featuring a special sandwich “Peer Pressure” with strawberry, peanut butter, and banana on toasted Belgian waffles for $8.75. The $10 charge at the door for Black Party includes a commemorative pint glass and first pint free of any class 1 Founders beer on tap. There also is a $2 discount for mug club members.
