Celebrate American Craft Beer Week with Dark Horse Brewing at Schuler’s Restaurant & Pub
As part of American Craft Beer Week, Schuler’s Restaurant & Pub is hosting a release party for Dark Horse Brewing’s new summer seasonal, Kamikaze Kaleidoscope, on Wednesday, May 18 from 5-9pm in Winston’s Pub. American Craft Beer Week (May 16-22) is sponsored by the Brewers Association, the not-for-profit trade group dedicated to promoting and protecting America’s small and independent breweries.

Michigan Beers Are Listed In RateBeer's Annual Top 100 Beer List
RateBeer.com has been busy. First, they came out with their yearly list of 100 best in the world. This is heavy competition for any brewer, and something for which so many strive for. Second, they also came out with the best India Pale Ale in the world. Hint; It is a Michigan brewery.

The Bird & The Bread goes ‘boo’ with ‘Beer, Fire & Brimstone’ Halloween Party
Birmingham crowds will clamor for more when The Bird and The Bread offers up its first Halloween events later this month – titled Beer, Fire and Brimstone in the ELM Room. Enjoy the flavors of fall with a beer tasting event fit to cater to all tastes, and sights to suit the season. This event takes place from 7-9 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 30, 2014 at The Bird & The Bread’s ELM Room, 210 S Old Woodward Avenue in downtown Birmingham. The cost is $35 per person ($5 off for those in costume).

Early brown ale beers were prized for their smokiness and dark color.
As with most standard American styles, Brown Ale was born in Europe. The earliest English Ales were brown in color, using “brown” malt – base malt that had been kilned over a hardwood fire. These early beers were prized for their smokiness and dark color, and the first reference to brown ales was in 1750, by way of Partigyle Brewing.
