Fall is the perfect time for pumpkin and harvest (fresh hopped) ales, and there are many different kinds for you to explore this weekend. Harvest ales are some of my very favorites, and many of them feature local Michigan Hops – for those of you interested in more exploration of Michigan Hops, I highly encourage you to pop over to the Michigan Hop Alliance tent, which is full of information and will be pouring multiple Michigan-hopped harvest ales for your enjoyment.
A word before moving forward, these are merely the picks of one Michigan beer lover. You will not be finding the usual top beers on this list – yes, there are some big hitters at this festival that draw a lot of attention, but that's not the motivation behind this list. It's not about the most recognizable beers or the ones that draw the most people, it's about the beers that stand out to me, as an individual. I've spent many years at the MBG Festivals, loved all of them, and have seen a very wide variety of offerings over the years – the beers on this list are merely the ones that pop out to me as unique and interesting this time around.

Tickets for the now TWO DAY Winter Beer Festival in Grand Rapids go on sale on DECEMBER 4th at 10AM. Mark your calendars folks, this is the first year with two days, but last year we saw tickets sell out in under THREE HOURS, with over 18,000 people bombarding the website to order tickets in that time period. Mark it down and grab your tickets for the first big MBG bash of 2015, out in the cold tundra of 5/3 Ballpark!

Until then, we'll see you at Eastern Market for the last Guild festival of the year!
Cheers and Prost!
