It was a long time coming, but Frankenmuth Brewery finally brought a cherished classic from its historical line of beers back to bars and store shelves this past spring when it revived Old Detroit Amber Ale. “You can only answer so many inquiries with ‘Soon. Very soon’ before you decide the time is more than right,” said Maher Sarafa, Brand Marketing Director of Frankenmuth Brewery.
Well the requests weren’t phony. That’s for sure. The response to the re- release of Old Detroit Amber Ale has been tremendous and quickly surpassed the brewery’s initial production forecast for the year. Metro Detroit bars and restaurants report enthusiastic patrons who remember the beer from its first go-around and new fans alike enjoying the classic amber ale. “I remember when Old Detroit Amber Ale first came out in the early 90’s, people loved the beer, says Bill Pappas, Sales Manager from Tri-County Beverage, Old Detroit’s distributor.

“Today’s version keeps true to the quality and flavor of the original recipe which customers truly appreciate. We’re excited to distribute Old Detroit again for

Frankenmuth Brewery!” Shellie Lewis, owner of the Old Shillelagh in Detroit, is one of the local pub owners witnessing the beer’s rapid success: “Frankenmuth’s Old Detroit appeals to a diverse crowd. Our bartenders suggest it regularly. It’s not too light or heavy with great flavor and easy to drink. Most people come back for a second pint!”

You can find Old Detroit Amber Ale on draft throughout Metro Detroit in bars and restaurants and in six-packs of cans available at supermarket chains and independent stores throughout the state of Michigan. Emblazoned with the classic Model-T logo that made it famous during its first run, it looks like Old Detroit is here to stay for fans old and new alike.
