the parlor article

With a diverse and elaborate selection of draft and bottled craft beers, The Parlor is one of Traverse City’s best locations to visit for a great beverage. Their happy hour deals will make your jaw drop, consisting of half off all food and beverages, Monday-Saturday, 4pm-7pm. A few of the breweries represented include Short’s Brewing Company, Founder’s Brewing Company, New Holland Brewing Company, and Right Brain Brewery. With such a tremendous happy hour, that puts both the Dirty Bastard from Founder’s and Soft Parade from Short’s at a mere $3 per bottle. The beer list is ever-rotating, so the opportunity to try something new is always presented. Of course, the wine and signature cocktail list is extensive as well, so you can always bring your non-beer-drinking friends along for the experience.

Brewery Terra Firma, Michigan’s first ever farm-based brewery, opened a little late in the year to take full advantage of the agricultural season. With their first full season just beginning, Muskegon’s Thrasher Collection in conjunction with Tyler Sales has embarked on a collaborative project with the brewery to provide their 4 restaurants being Hank’s, Handsome Henry’s, Hobo’s, and The Handsome Hobo with an exclusive new beer. The beer, described by brewmaster John Niedermaier as an “essence ale”, is a light but full-bodied beer with orange peel and coriander which should lend itself well to food pairings and even as cooking ingredient for specialty dishes.

Zombies Descend Upon Right Brain Brewery

Not rain, not wind, not even 45 degree temperatures were enough to discourage the zombie takeover of Right Brain Brewery.  Zombie brides, zombie nurses, zombie ninjas, zombie butchers, zombie dogs on leashes and zombie babies in strollers all waited for 9am on a brisk October Saturday morning.

Grand Opening of The Workshop Traverse City's Newest Microbrewery

The Workshop Brewery held its Grand Opening celebration to introduce itself as the newest microbrewery in Traverse City. Located in the Warehouse district, The Workshop has created a vibe of its own by remodeling the space formerly occupied by Right Brain Brewery and Salon Saloon. Gone is the wall that once separated the two previous businesses,  allowing for more useable space and providing a brighter more open feel. Couple that with the vivid color of red on the exterior and interior walls, and you have an energy that is comfortable and relaxing.  Seasonal access to the patio has been made easier with a roll up style garage door, and numerous outside tables have been added that provide a street side view of the hustle and bustle, some fresh air and sunshine.
