Recap of Barrel-Aged Beer Night at The Shark Club in Howell

On Thursday night we went out to the Shark Club in Howell for their Barrel-Aged Beer Night. The Shark Club is a big place that can fit around 300 people and at this event there had to be at least 150 patrons out enjoying barrel-aged beers. It’s cool to see this kind of turn out since barrel-aged beers are more of an acquired taste and probably not the first choice for an average beer drinker. I must say it’s nice to see people appreciating great beer and the quality of the beer bring them in the door instead of a $2 beer night.

Interview with Bryan Wiggs from Dark Horse Brewing Company

We ran down the always cool Bryan Wiggs from Darkhorse Brewing Company at the Winter Beer Festival. It was good catching up with him and hearing about how much fun they were having at the festival. It was also great hearing them, as always, graciously thank all the Michigan beer drinkers for their support. This is what Darkhorse has always been about--humility, TLC in their beer, and a 'come as your are' attitude that permeates everything they do.

Michigan Breweries | The Winter Seasonal Beers

As the days get shorter and the temperatures start to plummet, there is no mistake that Winter is here. Although the season does not start officially until the Winter Solstice, December 22 this year, ask any Michigander and they will tell you Winter starts much earlier. While all people know the bad that Winter brings... snow, school closings, bad roads, etc we need to focus on the good. The good that I am referring to is Winter Beer!
