Recap of 4th Annual Brewery Vivant Wood Aged Beer Fest

The weekend was cold and rainy but that couldn’t keep the legions of thirsty beer drinkers away from Brewery Vivant’s 4th Annual Wood Aged Beer fest. The brewery has continued to expand the festival to keep up with demand which has gone from overfilling the pub, to the beer garden, to last year the parking lot, to this year a whole stretch of Cherry St. and all this after only over the last few short years. Fortunately large tents awaited those who braved the weather to sample the 20+ specialty wood age release and sour Brewery Vivant specialty beers.
This year’s festival included the release of many long standing favorites along with several new wood age releases for 2014. Here is a sample selection of what was available this year:

a red wine barrel bretta 1-year aged Zaison.

a bourbon barrel aged take on the Tree Bucket double IPA.

Dude, Where’s my Donut?:
a red wine barrel aged version of the Propaganda doughnut collaboration beer Agent á Deux.

Whiskey Rooster:
Bourbon Barrel Big Red Coq.

Also featured this year and most popular were several firkin releases including Pumpkin Tart and the Rockford Brewing Company collaboration beer Coq2Fly. This year’s festival food included vegan chili, pulled pork sandwiches, beer brats, and giant turkey legs, as well as Brewery Vivant’s famous duck nachos. The event also featured a preview of the upcoming Wizard Burial Ground, a bourbon barrel aged Quad which will be available via limited release in cans this December.
