This year’s Michigan Brewer’s Guild Detroit Fall Beer Festival took place on Friday October 23rd from 5 p.m to 9 p.m. and Saturday October 24th from 1 p.m. to 6 p.m. The event featured over 675 beers from 80 different breweries from all over Michigan. Also featured were local bands and food from Detroit area restaurants. The weather cooperated for a beautiful fall weekend this year in Detroit and the festival was well attended with Saturday’s event selling out in advance. DJ Dante provided music for both days with Friday featuring Orbitsuns and Saturday’s live music lineup featuring the Strapping Owls, Taken Aces and Octopus. This year’s food vendors included Slows Bar BQ, Grand Trunk Pub, Detroit Beer Co and Mudgie's Deli.
Detroit’s Eastern Market is home to the fest and is located within a mile and walking distance from downtown and features over 150 vendors in addition to the breweries joining for the fall beer fest. As always with a beer fest as large as this one, there are too many standout beers to name but certainly one of the most talked about beers this year was “Return of The Wiener” from Greenbush brewery, their infamous hot dog beer which was one of a multitude of beers that brought Sawyer’s Greenbush one of the longest lines at this year’s fest. Another standout this year was Axle Brewing Co. of Royal Oak which including their German Strong Ale Feast among their offerings.

Detroit Fall Beer Fest is the culmination of the 2015 Michigan Brewer’s Guild season which was preceded by the U.P. Fall Beer Festival in September. The dates for the 2016 season have been announced which will include the return of the expanded 2-day Winter Beer Fest at Fifth Third Ballpark in Grand Rapids on February 26th and 27th and the Michigan Summer Beer Festival at Ypsilanti’s Historic Riverside Park on July 22nd and 23rd. Make sure to mark your calendars! Tickets for the upcoming Winter Beer Fest go on sale December 3rd at 10 a.m.
