BRU Fest - Grand Rapids

This Saturday, BRU Fest comes to the Deltaplex, offering delicious food options and many beer selections exclusively from Bell's Brewery in Kalamazoo. BRU Fest has been going on for three years in Royal Oak, and, with the opening of the Children's Leukemia Foundation office in Grand Rapids, the event has come to GR for the first time.
The event is created by and for the Children's Leukemia Foundation, with 100% of the proceeds going to their cause. A chance for beer and food lovers to convene under one roof and enjoy the finer things, all for a great cause.

“Our goal is to be fun and casual,” Director of Special Events for the Children's Leukemia Foundation Jackie Mcintosh said. “When we do the event in Royal Oak it's very easy going, and that's what we're carrying into this, with more of a fall vibe.”

Food for the event is being provided by Buffalo Wild Wings as well as Bagger Dave's, so there will be plenty of tasty grub to fuel your day. The beer is being provided by Bell's Brewery, and offers quite a few tasty brews for your pleasure, including some rarities.

Beer selection includes some standards along with some specialties, including a peek at Christmas Ale and Winter White Ale, their exceptional Cedar-Aged Lager Quinannan Falls, and a chance to get at their great Sparkling Ale. The biggest hitters brought for the event include Expedition Stout, Special Double Cream Stout, and a chance at their ever-sought-after Black Note.

“The last ten beers [on the list] are just being served at the Eccentic Cafe, and I'm excited to try those,” McIntosh said. “To get to try the beers that you can't get anywhere else. I'm very excited to try Uberon.”Some of these taproom-only offerings being poured include Magill's Spiced Stout, Smoked Lager,

Uberon (BA Oberon), Wedding Ale, Batteur Ale, Contrebassiste Ale, and Pianiste Ale. (Full list following article) General Admission tickets are $39 and include four food tickets, access to the beer tasting, a souvenir BRU Fest 2013 mug, free giveaways along with live music and games.

The response to the Southeast Brewfest has been very large, and the organization is very excited to bring BRU Fest to Beer City USA. Get your tickets today, because Saturday is going to be a great day full of great food, excellent beer, music, and all for a great cause. Let's fight Leukemia together and raise a glass to Michigan Beer!

“Grand Rapids is Beer City USA,” McIntosh said. “There's a love for craft beer in the area, along with Buffalo Wild Wings and Bagger Daves. The Event itself is a fantastic deal! Being able to enjoy these great things and give back to charity is a really fantastic opportunity.”

See you Saturday night at the Deltaplex!
