Michigan-based craft distillery, New Holland Artisan Spirits has been “bringing people back to gin” since they released their award winning Knickerbocker gin in 2008, which was followed by Knickerbocker Barrel Gin. In 2016, they’re furthering their gin-fueled mission by adding two innovative new gins to their portfolio.
Blue Haven Gin showcases the bounty and beauty of their local agriculture, featuring blueberries from between the Havens on the west coast of Michigan, the blueberry capital of the United States. Blue Haven Gin starts with juniper- and citrus-forward gin, which is then steeped on blueberries, adding delicate berry notes, slight, nuanced sweetness and an inviting violet hue.

Brixx Barrel Gin is barrel aged in red wine casks made from French oak. The barrels bring forward its floral character, while adding a velvet-like smoothness with the color of rose’.

Both new gins begin as New Holland’s award-winning Knickerbocker Gin, before their distinctly different conditioning methods, which happen post-distillation. “We have learned a great deal about the flavors of gin and barrel aging spirits, stated Brad Kamphuis, head distiller at New Holland. “Both of these gins explore new flavors that complement Knickerbocker’s approachable and delicious citrus and spice flavors. We love that defining what gin can be is an ongoing conversation and discovery.”

Blue Haven Gin is a single batch release, which will show up at retailers in April 2016. It will be sold in 750 mL bottles, while supplies last.

Brixx Barrel Gin is a single batch release, which will show up at retailers in July 2016. It will be sold in 750 ml bottles, while supplies last.

Both gins are being distributed to all States that sell New Holland Artisan Spirits, which include:

Colorado, Connecticut, Georgia, Illinois, Indiana, Kansas, Kentucky, Massachusetts, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, Nebraska, Nevada, New Jersey, New York, North Dakota, Ohio, Oregon, Rhode Island, South Carolina, South Dakota, Tennessee, and Wisconsin.

“Ten years of distilling has taught us a lot,” says Brett VanderKamp, President and Founder of New Holland Brewing. “Our team’s creativity and experience really shows up in Blue Haven and Brixx. Gin is one of the great frontiers of flavor, where there’s lots of room for creativity and exploration for both the distiller and the drinker.”
