pigeon hill 2nd preanniversary article

Pigeon HIll Brewing Company in Muskegon will soon be celebrating their 2-year anniversary and the brewery has plenty of accomplishments from the past year to celebrate. Pigeon Hill has recently began additional production in an off site facility with a new 20 barrel system to supplement the existing smaller pub brewery. This will allow the brewery to ramp up production on mainstays like their Shifting Sands IPA and Walter Blondale to meet their state-wide distribution demands. Pigeon Hill also plans to add a new canning line later this year to also boost distribution of their mainstay brands.

 pigeon hill anniversary bash 15

For Muskegon’s Pigeon Hill Brewing Company’s 1-year anniversary celebration, the brewery brought the party out onto the street with a tent extending out onto Western Avenue for 2 days of pizza, beer, and bands. The weekend featured a series of timed barrel aged beer releases including some exclusives, as well as a variety of styles of music to enjoy. I made sure to attend both days to fully appreciate the brewery’s anniversary experience.

unruly bike garden article

Muskegon Bike Time is a festival transforming downtown’s Western Ave into “Steel Horse Alley” for four days of bands, beer, and food for the tens of thousands of motorcyclists visiting from all over the United States and even internationally. New to bikers this year along this stretch of Western is the addition of Muskegon’s two new breweries Pigeon Hill and Unruly bringing in both their busiest 4-day stretch since their respective openings. Additionally, Unruly used the festival as an incentive to launch their brand new outdoor beer garden in the space directly outside their home in the Russell Block Building, something that has been a focus of theirs since first choosing the location and opening late last year.

The idea for Ice Box Brand ice cream bars started with owner Chris Morin and his family purchasing an ice cream truck on a whim. Originally, they toyed around a little with selling more traditional commercially mass-produced ice cream bars from the truck; However, Chris thought he could do better and hand-craft his own ice cream bars with a focus on local and quality ingredients. The emphasis on local and fresh hand-crafted products is what led them to collaborate with Pigeon Hill Brewing Company to create a very unique ice cream bar made with the Pigeon Hill LMFAO (Let Me Fetch An Oatmeal) Stout.
