An almost 150 year-old family farm has been recently restored near Hudsonville and will serve as the base of operations for the new Farmhaus Cider Co. Authentic German style cider sourced from locally grown apples is currently in production and will be available beginning in February for distribution via both kegs, with cans to follow. Two varieties of cider will be available initially. Both will be near 7% in terms of alcohol content and are described by Farmhaus as follows:
This drink is categorized as “dry” and is more atune to the drier ciders of Farmhaus’ German heritage. It’s a crisp, refreshing drink that will be a good lead for the more experienced drinker.

This drink is categorized as “semi-sweet” and is the perfect introductory cider for those new to the craft cider scene. It’s a fresh tasting, bright colored drink that is slightly backsweetened to enhance the full flavor it naturally brings.

Retail tastings at a few select retailers including Siciliano’s and Martha’s Vineyard in Grand Rapids are in the process of being scheduled and should be announced soon. In the meantime, check out the Farmhaus online store via their website for a variety of stickers, unique growlers, and also for the opportunity to be one of 75 to participate in a dedicated tree planting this spring complete with cider tasting party.
