Questionable Commodities Trading Draws Ire From the Beer Industry

Hops, malt, dry finish, sour, light, stout, summery, drinkable. These are just a few of the dozens of terms we use when talking about beer. Some other terms involved with brewing though hardly ever talked about in your local pub are supply chains, commodity futures, warehouse bottlenecks, and the London Metal Exchange, but an article from the Huffington Post from last week delves headlong into just those very topics.

Recap of Inaugural Lansing Beer Fest

The first annual Lansing Beer Festival rounding out Lansing Beer Week was a tremendous success, and we want to thank everyone who helped pull it off. From Roxanne and her staff at the REO Town Pub to Steve from Motor City Brew Tours, all the breweries in attendance, Fork in the Road and Sir Pizza, our volunteers and everyone who bought a ticket and came out, we roundly applaud you for your support and commitment to our project and the growing of these events in our city.

Short's Beer and MSU Ice Cream Pairing at REO Town Pub

Our next tasting event at the REO Town Pub in Lansing will be on Thursday, July 25th at 7pm and it will feature beers from Short's Brewing Company paired with ice cream from the MSU Dairy Store.

NFL Road Trip to New Orleans

The next exciting trip from Play Harder Tours has been announced! How does an NFL weekend in New Orleans complete with a 3-night stay at the French Market Inn, a Bourbon Street balcony party with a fully open bar, and an Abita Beer tour finishing in their tap & tasting room with the option of adding Cowboys vs. Saints tickets sound? Take a trip to Savannah Craft Brew Fest with Play Harder Tours

The newest destination in Play Harder Tours' lineup of fantastic beer trips has been announced for Labor Day Weekend. To coincide with the Savannah Craft Brew Fest, this trip takes you to the iconic, southern seaside town of Savannah, Georgia. The package includes a 3-night stay at the historic and luxurious Inn at Ellis Square, which is just a few steps from the famous City Market and set amidst the elegant southern architecture that the Savannah is famous for. The trip also includes a "haunted pub crawl",  a decadent "taste of Savannah" food crawl, and a VIP ticket to the Craft Brew Fest on Saturday, August 31st.

The Inaugural Lansing Beer Festival is Coming This Weekend

It's finally here! After months of planning, the second annual Lansing Beer Week will reach its crescendo at the First Annual Lansing Beer Festival this Saturday, June 29th, from 1-6 PM. The event, which will be the first of its kind to be held in Lansing, will take place in the REO Town district of Lansing on South Washington Avenue. Over 30 beers from 12 different Michigan breweries will be on tap, and Lansing's own Fork in the Road Artiasn Diner and Sir Pizza will be serving food throughout the day. A live DJ will also be playing music during the entirety of the festival.

Lansing Beer Week's Downtown Bar Crawl

For our Thursday night Lansing Beer Week Event, we will be holding a Michigan Beer themed Bar Crawl through Downtown Lansing. The stops along the way will include Waterfront Bar and Grill, Michael's, The Nuthouse, Taps 25, Tin Can, and Midtown Beer Company. Tickets for the event are $24.99 and include 3 pints of craft beer along the way, a Lansing Beer Week pint glass, and exclusive drink specials at each location on the crawl.

I'm a Beer Hound is the host of Festival of the Sun's Beer Pairing

During this coming Weekend's Festival of the Sun in Old Town there will be special event within the eventPartnering with Lansing's Restaurant Mediteran, we will be hosting a food pairing featuring some of the finest Mediterranean food in the area served with some of the best craft beers in the country.

Festival of the Moon and Sun to kickoff Lansing Beer Week

The Festival of the Moon and Sun are both coming this weekend to Lansing's Old Town (June 21-22). Designed to be a celebration of the arrival of summer, these events are always an outstanding time with plenty of food, music, and of course, beer and wine. Friday's Festival of the Moon is sponsored by Bell's Brewing Company and will feature a full line of their beers on tap as well as food from Grand Grillin, Mark’s Gourmet Dogs and Amie Jo’s Elephant Ears. The event runs from 6PM-11PM.

Beer and Bacon Paring at Reno's East

Among the other exciting events planned for Lansing Beer Week is our special beer and bacon pairing. For the event, we will be tasting the delectable bacon from Jerome Country Market and beers from New Holland Brewing Company of Holland, MI.
