Weird Michigan Event

The Shark Club in Howell will be holding the second annual "Weird Michigan" Beer and Food Exhibition on August 11th. Just in its second year, this is one of the most unique and interesting beer events in the state and features all things "weird" in the world of Michigan craft beer.

Paul and I checked out the Greenbush Brewing Company tap takeover at the Shark Club in Howell last week. As always, the Shark Club was buzzing. There was the tap takeover going on, their daily poker games in the back, and live music outside. We got a booth, ordered a Green Bush sampler, and settled in.

Recently The Shark Club in Howell, Mi invited the rock and rollers of Michigan Craft Beer to take over their taps. Dark Horse Brewing Co. out of Marshall, Mi brought out several of their beers along with 4 different versions of their flagship IPA.

Witches Hat Blown Glass Tap Handles

Last week Paul and I headed out to The Shark Club in Howell, Mi for the Witches Hat Brewing release party. This party was held to celebrate the fact that Witches Hat is starting to distribute their wonderful beer. Witches Hat opened in 2011 and have been blowing up the scene ever since.

Tomorrow at 7pm at the Shark Club in Howell, Witch's Hat Brewing from South Lyon will hosting a tap takeover. They'll be bringing at least four of their beers with them that include their Edward Portly Brown, a dark American brown ale and their Big Doedish, a strong, double IPA.

We will be giving away 2 tickets to the next Style Night with Rex Halfpenny on Monday, June 11th at the Shark Club in Howell. Rex is one of the leading authorities in Michigan on all things beer, and these Style Nights always provide a tremendous wealth of information on both the intricacies and history of the beer styles in question. At the upcoming event, wheat beer will be featured. There will be a blind taste-testing of five different wheat beers and a discussion to follow. Rex will explain the origin of these beers in Germany and Belgium, how they've adapted, and the Oberon craze.

Rogue JJ Dead Guy ale at the Shark Club in Howell

Once a month, The Shark Club in Howell, MI hosts a style night featuring Rex Halfpenny. For those of you who have no clue what a style night is, let me explain. A style night is a night where a certain style of beer such as an IPA or Stout is featured. On this night, Bock beers were being featured. During Style Night at The Shark Club, you pay for a ticket which includes 6 samples of beer that are served as Rex shares his wealth of knowledge about the history of the particular style of beer being served.

The Shark Club in Howell, Mi knows how to celebrate a holiday. Instead of doing your typical, Mexican themed celebration for the Cinco de Mayo holiday, the Shark Club decided to celebrate with a Short’s Brewing Company tap takeover. Short’s really knows how to pull out all the stops for their tap takeovers, and with 30 beers on tap we felt like kids in a candy store.
