Corner Brewery’s Rat Fest 2012 Celebrates Small-Batch Beer and Local Homebrewers

Calling all small-batch beer connoisseurs! Tickets are now available for Corner Brewery’s third annual Rat Fest Saturday, January 28, 2-5 pm, celebrating small-batch beers crafted by local amateur and professional brewers. Tickets can be purchased in advance for $25 at the Corner Brewery and Arbor Brewing Company Pub & Eatery and, if not sold-out, at the event for $30. Ticket price includes entry, appetizers, commemorative glass, plus more than 30 beer samples from amazingly talented local home brewers and brew clubs. Corner Brewery is one block north of historic Depot Town at the corner of Norris and Forrest Streets.

Our New Design For Our Beer Hound Hoodie

We will be releasing a new hoodie in January 2012. Here's a sneak peak on the design of the hoodie. It will be a zip up hoodie and will come in men's and women's versions.The hoodie will come in dark heather and black in men's and the women's will come in white with hot pink print. I caught up with Travis Fritts Owner/Brewer of Detroit Beer Company at Crunchy's in East Lansing. In this interview, one of that questions we asked Travis is why drink Michigan Beer? He explains that beer is a product that can stand up to aging but beer is meant to be consumed locally and the further away a beer is from it's source, you might get a good beer and you might not. It's best to consume beer close to where it made.

We interviewed Matt Greff one of the owners of Arbor Brewing Company at their Terminator Release Party. We were happy to get to interview Matt before he left for India for three months to help open Arbor Brewing Company India. Last Tuesday we went to Arbor Brewing Company for the Send Matt & Rene To India Party. Here is a little back story on this Matt & Rene are going to India for three months to open a new ABC in India. The idea to help start ABC India started with Gaurav Sikka, a University of Michigan student and frequent patron of ABC. After graduating, he moved back to Bangalore and he contacted the founders with an interest in leading India’s emerging craft brewery movement.

Arcadia Brewing Company is celebrating 15 years on Saturday, December 3rd beginning with Breakfast at 9 am.  An all day "Highland Christmas" party follows that includes live performances from String Cheese of Ann Arbor, members of the Kalamazoo Pipe Band, and the Celtic group Fonn Mor.

Interview with Scott King from MillKing It Productions

We interviewed, Scott King the owner of MilKing It Productions at 2011 Detroit Fall Beer Festival. In the interview, Scott talks about why MilKing It Productions only packages their beers in cans and kegs. He sees that cans as the future for package craft beer. Scott goes on  tell a couple of reasons why cans are better then glass and that in the next 5 years he thinks most Michigan Beers will be in canned in some capacity.
