Barrel Aged Beer Night at The Shark Club in Howell
Come enjoy Beer aged in all sorts of Barrels!
This is a cool event going on at the always exciting Shark Club Billiards and Night Club in Howell. Their normal lineup of craft beers is fantastic, but on March 29th it gets even better (and boozier) for their Barrel Aged Beer Night featuring more than ten barrel aged beers from around Michigan and beyond.

Over 100 Craft Beer Varieties at Boyne Highlands’ Brew-Ski Festival
Boyne Highlands’ third annual Brew-Ski Festival takes place Saturday, March 10 and features more than 100 varieties of craft beer, including nearly 50 from Michigan breweries. This festival is staged at the base of the slopes where beer lovers can gather and enjoy suds, grilled brats and spring skiing and riding.

New Holland Brewing Captures a National Grand Champion in the United States Beer Tasting Championship (USBTC)
New Holland’s Pilgrim’s Dole, a wheatwine aged in bourbon barrels, which previously aged Dragon’s Milk, was recently named “National Grand Champion” for the barleywine category in the USBTC’s Winter Session. Their Cabin Fever was also winner of the “Best Brown Ale” in the Midwest and Rockies Division.

Originally the Fest was planned for Old Towne in TC but the return to the site of the summer Porterhouse event was a blessing and a perfect combo to the annual VASA ski weekend.

Michigan Brewers Guild Presents Inaugural “Tom Burns Award” – Recognizing the Pioneering Spirit of the Great Beer State – to Larry Bell of Bell’s Brewing Company
Nearly 200 leaders in the state’s craft brewing industry were present at the Michigan Brewers Guild annual conference which took place at Shanty Creek Resort in Bellaire last week, where the inaugural “Tom Burns Award” – recognizing the pioneering spirit of the “Great Beer State” – was presented to Larry Bell of Bell’s Brewery in Galesburg, Michigan.
According to Eric Briggeman, President of the Michigan Brewers Guild, Larry Bell was one of four nominees for the award, the others being Ron Jeffries from Jolly Pumpkin Artisan Ales, Fred Bueltmann from New Holland Brewing Co., and John Linardos from Motor City Brewing Works.

Blue Sunday is Upon Us!
There's a variety of events happening throughout the day, starting with a brewmaster tour at our production facility (684 Commerce Ct. Holland, MI) at 11am for ticket holders only. There is also a private library tasting for ticket holders from 2-5pm at our restaurant and pub (66 E 8th St.)

Michigan Breweries: The Winter Seasonal Beers
As the days get shorter and the temperatures start to plummet, there is no mistake that Winter is here. Although the season does not start officially until the Winter Solstice, December 22 this year, ask any Michigander and they will tell you Winter starts much earlier. While all people know the bad that Winter brings... snow, school closings, bad roads, etc we need to focus on the good. The good that I am referring to is Winter Beer!
